Dr. Keith Darrow is a neuroscientist and clinical audiologist who has spent his career changing how hearing loss and tinnitus are treated — with an approach built around protecting the brain, not just amplifying sound. He is one of the only Harvard Medical School and MIT-trained neuroscientists in private-practice audiology.
About Dr. Darrow
Dr. Darrow holds a Ph.D. from the joint Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) program in Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology. As a research associate at the renowned Eaton-Peabody Laboratory at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, his work contributed to the development of next-generation auditory prostheses, and he completed a fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His scientific research has been cited more than 950 times in the literature.
Today he is the Director of Audiology Research at Hearing & Brain Centers of America and a tenured professor at Worcester State University, where he teaches hearing science, audiology, and the assessment and treatment of balance disorders. A Certified Dementia Practitioner, Dr. Darrow is best known for connecting the dots between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline — and for a treatment philosophy centered on brain health.
Through the Excellence in Audiology movement, his books, and a national speaking tour, he has educated hundreds of thousands of patients and trained audiologists around the world. Above all, he is driven by a simple commitment: to do whatever it takes to serve the best interests of patients and their families.
